Easier said than done. Detachment is to be practised day long, year long till it becomes part and parcel itself. Attachment could vary in the form of position, power, job, family, money etc.
Certain incidents that happen in life, in a daily or on an adhoc basis greatly questions our level of detachment in life.
Ever since New Year, the entire week saw me gliding through experiences of people and mine that have a close link with past. Which indirectly tests my very own steadfastness on detachment. Interesting week indeed!
For many, stepping into the past frightens the most. Sometimes it is also a wake up call; a reality check .......to see whether we have moved on or still very much attached to the people and events that have happened over the years. Agitation happens if its bitter; fondness felt if it is sweet. In both scenarios, the mind is clever enough to take us for a ride, most times without us realising. Ideally we have two options; either we face the truth and move on or we cling on to it. The former will set us free and latter cage us.
After sometime we come to terms that what is deemed tough then was easy now. So time definetly heals. And the healing here is in the mind level.....when the incident/ object is dropped from the mind, everything else drops away........no room for attachment......the sense-sense objects relationship.....Its a journey again...............The mantra Even THIS will pass Namaha definetly helps!
