I am a Saivite.....
Someone with a good thought handed over prasadam from Perumal temple to fellow colleague. The very first question asked was; is it from a Shivan temple? When the answer was no, the colleague did not partake the prasad
Another occasion, Krishna bhajans was going on in the family circle, however one of the members choose to wait outside and not be part of it. Reason? I am a Saivite.......
Vice versa, most people associate Krishna followers as fanatics and extremist too.
Unity in Malaysia? Wait a second, first and foremost where is unity among Hindus? The separation of Saivite and Vaishnavite....In no ways I am supporting any groups. I have been for many functions, festivals and prayers of both sects or school of thoughts. Each has their very own unique belief system and practices. Respecting each other is to be seeked. Then how did such disparity exist? Why this divide? Why the fanaticism?
The most famous temple of Shiva in Chidambaran which represents the space/ ether element is hailed by all Saivites. Hundreds throne to this place of worship every year. But little did we know that there is a Perumal diety installed at the same temple. How well symbolised it is on the unity of both school of thoughts.
Truly hurting to see such divide among people. We are soooooo religious but rarely spiritual!
